Brewers choice beers, also known as 'seasonal' beers, rotate regularly. Below is a description of current seasonal beers.
Double Nut BrownThis is a style that seems to be more of a Midwest specialty. I have not seen many of these in other areas except the Midwest (Michigan especially). It is our interpretation of the traditional English nut brown ale, except it's stronger. It does not have any nuts, the nutty flavor is imparted by the grain. It has a smooth roast character with hints of toffee and chocolate and leaves you with a dry finish. The hops are subtle; they help to round out the flavor (41.5 ibu's). It is strong; it rings in at 8% abv. .
SnickerdoodleOur newest seasonal is called Snickerdoodle (yes it is named for the Christmas cookie, which it somewhat tastes like). This beer is what Christmas candles should smell like. It was brewed with Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice, Clove, Honey, and Dates. It was brewed in the Belgian Strong Ale style (the Belgian yeast that I used imparts hints of banana, bubblegum and strawberries), it rings in at 9% abv. The brewmaster left a little bit unfermented to give it a bit of a sweetish character to go with its Christmas cookie character. It reminds one of a mulled cider.
We will be serving these beers in 12 oz. glasses because of it's alcohol strength.

Challenger Extra Special Bitter (ESB)It is an English style ESB (Extra Special Bitter- in England they use a scaling system for their bitters, from the lowly Bitter, to the Special Bitter, to the strongest bitter, the Extra Special Bitter). It is similar to an IPA, but the hops are a little more subdued, and there is more of a caramel malt flavor. Here, the Challenger, refers to the type of hop (which has its origin in England) which was added 4 times during the
boil and once more in the fermenter. It is a little darker than the IPA. It is quite a flavorful brew. It rings in at about 6.5% abv.
