SOUTHFIELD - Workers in need of a quick pick-me-up but who hate to leave the office can now take their work with them to a local restaurant. Copper Canyon Brewery is a bar, café, computer lab and restaurant all wrapped into one, said owner Ed Miri.

"We really tried to appeal to the more casual, professional crowd," said Miri, who is a chemist. "We want our guests to be able to dine and have a professional meeting at the same time."
Miri said what makes the restaurant/brewery unique from others is the 8 "cyber" booths*, where business professionals and students can plug in their laptops & surf the world wide web at no charge.
Barbara Dougherty of Detroit was attracted to the restaurant on Northwestern Highway during a recent lunch hour.
"The food's great and very unique," Dougherty said. "Nowhere else could you come and enjoy a meal and use your laptop at the same time."
The restaurant, which opened in May, brews more than eight styles of beer and one special house-blend coffee. Copper Canyon Brewery also has seven 32- and 35- inch televisions** throughout the restaurant and on 10- foot screen for special sporting and entertainment events.

The name tells you a lot. Michigan's copper industry reaches deep into the state's history. Canyon suggests grand, big and beer country. Copper Canyon Brewery's motif and entire operation plays on this.
Miri translated the idea well to a great Michigan fit with a number of unique twists including roasting coffee on premise, integrating house-roasted coffee into the Stout, and cyber booths where one can access the Internet through a server with a local telephone number*.
